TV Recap: BET's The Game

Like many of you, I was very excited about the return of the tv show The Game last night.  The show has had quite the following since it's debut on the CW network.  It came as a shock to many when the show got cancelled after three very successful seasons:(  Luckily, for everyone (actors, writers, producers and fans alike), the show was picked up by BET and they kept the same cast, production and writing team.

BET scored a major ratings victory last night with the premiere of scripted series The Game, which drew 7.7 million viewers — the network’s biggest audience for a scripted series debut.
The African-American targeted network produced the fourth season of The Game – which follows the lives and relationships of players on a fictional pro-football team.

I was keeping up with the show while checking out Twitter and Facebook for updates and to my surprise, The Game was the leading trending topic in the United States!  The fans were going in on the show sharing their opinion!
The show's story line started of two years later since we last met the cast.  Was it just me, or did it feel like there was a lack continuity since the last season? For instance;
  • Why did Melanie wait two years to administer the paternity test?
  • Why and when did Malik become so mean especially towards TT? What transpired between them?
  • Why was Kelly still extremely bitter towards Jason?  Time is meant to heal but it appeared that after two years, she was still harboring ill feelings.  And that reality show...don't get me started!
  • Why was Brit Brat so much older?  The new one is about 15yrs old & too rude for school! Not believable.
  • Terrence from 106th & Park as the new and much younger love interest for Tasha Mack! He was not believable! Bring back Rick Fox!
There was a resounding sense of disappointment from the fans! I felt the writers crammed too much into the first show.  I hope the show will get better and keeps fans as interested as we have been since the show's debut.
